I was invited back to the Natural History Museum for a commission to create a new long form composition to celebrate the 60th Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition. I wrote a 50 minute composition comprising of 4 parts to encapsulate the different biomes of our planet. Moving from the Polar regions, through the worlds deciduous forests, along our rainforests and ending up in the desert lands.
I changed my approach slightly composing for the 16 speaker ambisonic array from when I created the 58th version, by creating a custom diffusion mix tailored for each of the 4 separate but connected spaces in the gallery. This meant 4 separate ambisonic mixes for each of the spaces which were tuned and mixed in situ to work in sympathy with the specific sonic architecture of each of the spaces. This created a connected engaging immersive soundscape whilst moving through the space no matter where the audience were along their journey.
The 50 minute composition is on loop for the entire timeframe of the exhibition from 2024-2026.
